Workshops

WorkshopsFormat: (45 minutes concert and PowerPoint presentation)

The educational components that will be developed to complement the project include PowerPoint presentations that serve as the core of the workshop program and cover a range of topics, including world music, music through history, world culture, and the positive impact of music on society.

Additional information will include:

  • A glossary of native instruments with illustrations
  • Scholarly literature on the musical heritage in each country
  • Overview of the global music industry, innovation and art
  • Information on challenges and obstacles standing in the way of global understanding from the presenter's standpoint
  • A list of resources to encourage additional research
  • For students, the visual presentation will provide a framework for the study of geography by offering a visual picture to illustrate otherwise ordinary maps. Furthermore, exploring visuals and sounds helps learners immerse themselves in world cultures other than their own. Traditional instruments and musical styles that reveal cultural origins are crucial to understanding each country's cultural identity. The images of traditional clothing, homes, material possessions and lifestyles will provide a visual context with which to work.
