The Zade Foundation’s First Annual Young Composers for Peace Award
About
The Young Composers for Peace Award is an annual initiative of The Zade Foundation for International Peace and Understanding aimed at empowering and supporting outstanding young composers who are passionate about writing contemporary instrumental music as well as committed to upholding and promoting the principles of peace and social justice within their own communities and around the world.
Music styles
Classical Cross Over, Contemporary World, Instrumental Pop
Composition Details
3-8 minute compositions with your choice of lead instrument, backed by orchestra, blended with popular music instrumentation, (and optional: ethnic instrumentation/choir.)
Eligibility
Composers between the ages of 18 and 23 with deep pride in the musical heritage of their native country and who envision a career that combines sustainable peace building efforts utilizing the international language of music.
Submission
1. Original conductor score in PDF format
2. A good quality recording on CD or MP3 of the composition (midi mockups are acceptable as well)
3. An essay explaining the passion and vision of the musical career you are about to embark upon, and how do you envision utilizing music as an international peace-building tool.
4. Photocopy of your school ID OR state ID
Selection Criteria
Submissions will be reviewed by a committee of veterans from the music industry and affiliates of the Zade Foundation. Equal weight will be given to the creative musical component as well as an articulate written essay. Our aim is to empower outstanding young composers who are passionate about their own culture and musical heritage and who have creative solutions on how their music can build bridges to a harmonious global community.

The Award
